I'm firing on all cylinders when my head hits the pillow. Does that happen to you? I’ll replay my failures from the day, especially the embarrassing ones. I shouldn’t have said that. What was I thinking? Was I too rude to that person? Was that the right response? I hope they didn’t take what I said the wrong way.

Well it's simple really. I don't pray enough. I don't mean "enough" in the chronological sense like there is actually a right amount of prayer. By "enough" I mean that when I waste my brain energy in worry, fear, anxiety, anger and complaint, I should probably clue in and pause to pray.

I don’t know about you, but when I go through something difficult, I find myself wanting to vent. Sometimes I vent to my wife, sometimes I vent to a friend, and sometimes I even vent to God in prayer. But is that okay? It is it acceptable to vent to God? I have come across people that say “No.”

A number of years ago, I took a karate class with my kids for fun. One day my class was sparring and the sensei walked onto the mat in between matches. Since we were on a break, one of the instructors shouted jokingly, "Who wants to spar sensei?" I volunteered.
